Maxwell Kanbayashi is sick of being scared, so he chooses to face his greatest fear. He discovers something far worse.
BENEATH THE WOODS is a LGBT+ supernatural horror / fantasy novel series inspired by Gravity Falls, Oxenfree, and Kingdom Hearts. It follows trans teen Max as he searches for answers about his magical abilities and uncovers their unsettling origins. Ultimately, he must deal with the terrifying, cosmic ramifications for seeking the truth, wondering if the answers should've stayed in the dark.The series was originally released as a webcomic, but has since been turned into a serialized web novel. Updates are exclusive to Patreon and Ao3 for now, but will be released to Tapas and other platforms in the near future.

BENEATH THE WOODS, in its webcomic form, was a supernatural horror comic that I released from 2019 to 2024. I have since canceled the project so that I can focus on turning it into a novel series. However, I still want to make sure the webcomic itself is accessible, so you can read on Tapas, Webtoon, and my Patreon.

What do you use to draw?
I use Procreate for all of my drawing and comic work! When I animate / make animatics, I use a combination of Procreate Dreams and Capcut. I use an iPad Pro as a drawing tablet.What brushes do you use?
A modified version of the 6B brush for sketching, plus a combination of brushes from JingSketch and the Gouache / Comics MaxPacks for painting and rendering!How do you draw [insert thing here]?
